If its an external hole in the tank you want to fix, which Im guessing it is, you can use JB Weld on it. Ive done that on a couple of them. You have to clean the area down to bare metal and let dry completely before use. Or line the tank inside with a sealer.

When I had a gas tank leak I drained the tank and pulled it, then I cleaned the area where the leak was and used a big soldering iron and flux. I would look inside the tank with a good light to see if you have rust. Hal

Anything that would plug a leak would
likely plug the carb too. Napa has a 2
part paste that can be used while the leak
is still dripping and it works GREAT. Used
it several times and was always pleased.

I would clean where tank is leaking and if the inside of tank has rust I would clean it. I would solder or JB Weld the pin hole and then coat the inside of tank with Red Kote. Odds are if you have pin hole in tank if there is some rust in tank it could develope another leak if not lined.

I am thinking you are talking gasoline right? Is it a tank thats leaking? I have in a pinch used a product called Seal-All. It will plug a small running leak. If you are talking about Natural Gas all bets are off :)

A small hole can be stopped by rubbing a hard bar of hand soap on it. Then clean around the pin hole to use body filler or JB weld. Works with gasoline in the tank.

Most auto parts stores sell gas tank sealers that can be applied to the outside of a tank with gas still in the tank. They can work OK until the next pin hole rusts through.

I use a small light and socket...it"s what"s in the planter monitor, I think an H3 bulb. Hook it to a 12V battery and dangle it inside the tank. Works much better than a flashlight cuz it"s INSIDE the tank. A common dash idiot light would work as well.
