Just what ya don't want...Gasoline in Radiator

Just learned that gasoline was put into my antifreeze fill instead of the gas tank. Guessing maybe a gallon at the most, can smell it in the tank though. Any suggestions on what to do? Don't really want to flush whole thing, heard you can stick a hose in the fill and flush out from the top. Can I start or move the tractor? Sitting in the barn at moment. Thanks

The only thing I can think of if you don't want to drain everything is syphon out what you can from the top, then drain the radiator. If you run it, it might circulate and be mixed with all the antifreeze.

I have had this same thing happen. ( Help full Folks) I drained all
Gas and Prestone out refilled with warm water, did a flush about 3-
4 times. Then filled it again with warm soapy water, run it till hot,
drained that crap out and redone this 3-4 times with warm soapy
water. running it between all refills. The smell went away and all is
been good so far. I hope this helps.

Thanks folks... was hoping there was an easy fix but guess not. Did try to siphon but can't get the hose in far enough.

Yeah more worried about going up in flames. Still like the idea of running a hose in the fill and letting it run out the top till I don't see gas. Any opinions on that one? I'd have to move the tractor to do that.

Gasoline will float on top of water. Just leave it set with the radiator cap removed and it should evaporate out in just a few hours.

I'm with the crowd who recommends running water in the radiator SLOWLY and letting it overflow. Then drain radiator into buckets, let it sit so gas comes to the top, and siphon into a clean bucket from below the gas level.

But you mentioned you'd have to move it to do that- DO NOT START IT! That will mix everything up, and you'll have to drain everything. As it is now, you should have no gas in the engine yet, and you want to avoid that.

I agree with slowly overflow it out the top. That won't get it all, but most will come out. Then drain it and flush it running. If you want to save the antifreeze that drained out, let it sit open in the sun for a day and it should be OK to put back in. Keep the pets and kids away though!

The problem is not so much fire hazard but incompatibility with the hoses, radiator cap, and water pump seal. Any petroleum product will swell and degrade rubber.

(quoted from post at 12:54:29 09/10/14) One of those dang JD drivers done it, their used to the gas cap being in front of the radiator cap :)
Must be color bind to cause this one ain't even a Deere! Think I got it solved, thanks everyone for the advice
