I believe this plant to be wild violet. It is now beginning to take over my back lawn. I have creeping jenny also, but have started to bring it under control. I am surprised that the chemicals used to control creeping jenny doesn't control wild violet. Lawn is fairly dense and has good fertility. Any ideas on controlling wild violet????? Thank you.

"Confront"

I think it may be a restricted herbicide. I know my city cousins in Washington state can't get it anymore but I have no problem getting it from the local Coop. Follow the label, spray in late June and don't cut a week before or after application.

It is a turf product and works great for broadleaves in lawns. You don't have the drifting to your trees and other ornamentals that 2-4D gives.

Confront is much better at controlling violets and ground ivy, sometimes 2-4-D won't get them. Imprellis was awesome, but it killed everything else way too easily.

I think it depends on what if any spray has been used on it previously. I have a little bit of creeping Charlie. Used Trimac , and 2-4D . I thought I had it killed several times but when we get a wet spell, here it comes back. I believe it has built an immunity to the spray I am using as the grass seems to suffer as much as the weed now. Still trying though.

I have good luck with Trimec, but do not spray it in a drought, it will kill the grass also.
