I have been blocking and splitting firewood for the last 3 days, up in the woods. Went up and loaded out this load this morning and unloaded and stacked it this afternoon. I have another load and a half blocked and split in the woods, which I will load out tomarrow, and then will need to make one more load this comming week, to fill the woodshed.
When stacked in the shed, each load equals about 1.25 full cord. The woodshed holds 17.5 cord stacked to the rafters. I burned 12.5 cord last winter. 100% woodheat, no oil.

There's the "Chebby" wood getter in the background, well at least the humidity is gone, ground has dried a bit here, but my tractor is still stuck, darned wet spot, and if I waited a week to cut that area, now I'd have gone right through LOL !

Looks nice. I can't readily find any wood here in Saginaw, MI. I've gotten several free dead ash trees in the past but most of the folks I know have already cut their dead ash. Most of the trees around here were killed 75 yrs ago by the farmers clearing land. I was hoping to come across some more this year but none so far. I've got enough for this year but need to work ahead. The city dropped a couple yesterday and left them lay. Today scroungers pounced on them. Its illegal but there's no city staff to care.

Are you sure you don't leave the doors open to burn that much wood? Lol

I thought it was bad when I burnt 4 or 5 cords a year in the old house.

Gary,
Last year was a brutal heating season. We usually have to start burning wood mid Oct. and can shut down in April. I am heating with a Royall wood boiler. I heat 2500sq.ft. main floor, 1800 sq.ft. celler, and a 4 bay tractor shop.

LOL ! I don't know, anywhere ??...... well heck, I'll be darned if someone ever told me that LOL !!!!! Here's proof they don't, and it does get worse the more you fool with them ! I went up to visit and or fool with it and there was a large green frog living in the puddle, I had to convince him to leave, just not a good place to be when the tires spin, now it's dried significantly, just some mud there. I'll need a Case to pull 'er out ! Well, maybe this was needed, called Rochester Clutch and Brake and am going to have the clutch done for the D7, now if that can't get it out, it may have to live there with the frogs LOL !

Fun isn't it LOL ! darned thing, its now dry all around that area, I could now mow all of it. Well I'm going to skid the mower back with a 3 ton yale lever hoist, then have at the tractor from the same small tree, raise the front at little to open up some space under it, should come out. I'm finally getting to my D7 cat to get it running, used to be my back up for these situations, first time in 12 years I could not get it out.
