A neightbor has a 05 mahindra 4500 diesel with 360 hours for sale and wants $6800.00 with a bush hog,set of harrows and an all purpose plow. Clean good looking tractorIs the price good or bad. I have never owned a deisel in my ife and always wanted one, Have a ford 8N for 44 years. Thanks far any replys. James
 
There is fellow just south of me that is a dealer. He has had good luck with them. I think they are the upper end of the cheaper imports.

As for that 4500 for $6800. That seems like a real good deal if it just has 360 hours. I looked online and there where several for sale. The cheapest one was advertised for $9500.

So with some attachments that seems very reasonable. If it is in your price range and you have driven it an liked it, I would buy it.

Truthfully it will not have the lugging engine like your 8N but it will be nicer with PS and live PTO. Plus the diesel engine would be much nicer than a older gas engine as far as ease of operation.
 
At 35 PTO HP and more displacement (about 146 cid) it should lug better and have more power than an 8N, and burn about 1/2 the fuel.
 
I would not be afraid at all of a Mahindra. They are the biggest selling tractor company world wide and they have a real good reputation with all kinds of agriculture applications. They have their roots in the old International Harvester tractor company.
