Mackinac Bridge Crossing 2014

The 7th bridge crossing was wet one. They had 6" of rain Thursday night & Friday morning, so the start was delayed an hour. We still had 942 tractors registered for it and although very cloudy, the rain held off for the actual ride. The pictures don't do the bridge justice.

that was a refreshing interview. our news comes out of Austin and I don't think any of the "reporters" would have the slightest idea what a tractor was much less a tractor club or tractor ride.

There are 6 segments of video, starting way before daylight,so be sure to watch them all.

I think I recognize some of those tractors. There are some Olivers in the background of most of the interviews. Do those belong to Rowcrop? I think in one of them where they're panning around I see two Deeres that JDJohn had at the Blanchard show too don't I?
Then there's that Moline "Jeep". I've seen that at Oakley, have some pictures of it too.

I have been to several Machinac Parades but never have participated yet . Tons of tractors and lots of fun -- good bunch of people . I live 55 minutes north of the bridge , so it's easy for me to zip down there any time of day, since it's an all day event.

I'm doing this next year! Trying to talk my stubborn grandpa into doing it too. Had intentions of making it this year just to check it out, but didn't happen.

Come to find out my breathable rain proof rain suit was not so rain proof. And will be parting ways with me soon.
All in all an enjoyable weekend as always.

Well, a picture is worth a thousand words. For those who want to do the ride I encourage them to do so and God bless.

Me? One look at those low railings compared to the height of my Farmall row crop tractors, the proximity to the railing and my experiences driving over said bridge in a car...not a chance. No way. I would be a basket case before I got half way across. They would have to get the jaws of life to break my grip on the steering wheel and med-evac me off the the span. Why do the tractors have to be on the outside lane?

I agree with you for sure! I have been on that bridge a number of times with a car or pickup and every time I say I'm going to look at the scenery but I have enough just looking ahead where I'm going.
