Well, I found a can of something that said nothing on one side as the paper was gone, but on the other side it said it quieted noisy valves nd lifters, so I thought it would be a good place to go, so I did like ya said, then poured the rest in the gas tank. I thought tho that it lokedlike it would just drain down to the carb, so I thought id turn it over a few times. Fired right up. Smoked so bad, reminded me of entering the gas house in the army. Wouldn't quit for 10 secs even with the fuel shut off.
Its supposed to rain tomorrow and Sat. I wont bother with it on Sun, so ital. have 3 days to do any god. Is that long enough or should I give it a week?

Whats the tappit set on the rocker arms and push rods. I havnt done that in near 30yrs, but I suppose ill check them out next.

As much trouble as your are having with that tractor, makes me wonder why you just don't find another. I see them around for $600 to $800 running.

You don't see them around here for that money. I paid $1000 for this one 7yrs ago, and gave it to my boy. Excellent hood/grill R fender.

Sides it helps me to learn mechanical stuff, and besides, I like a challenge. I got the hand clutch to hold back, now to deal with the engine.

They don't have to be a perfect .012. Just set where your feeler gauge has a slight drag. Think of all of the manufacturing tolerances.

yep, Thanks. Like I said, I had done it over 30yrs ago, on F-20s, and my granddads CC Case,
Ill wait a week to give time for the stuff I put in for the lifters to work before I go after the push rods.
