are those opaque gas thanks on weed eaters, blowers, etc. made out of? I need to repair one and need to find something that can donate some plastic--perhaps tie straps? I'll be using a soldering iron to "weld" the cracks shut.

Polyproplene? Maybe.

If it was me I would try a little super glue or that Gorilla glue stuff to see if this works.

Look at the tank and see if there's a triangular recyclability symbol on it. If there is, you can go online and determine the material by the particular symbol. My guess would be polyethylene.

I had a chainsaw that got a crack in gas tank. I sanded the plastic tank to make it rough and cleaned it good and use JB weld on it. I used it for another five years sold it and it never leaked in that period of time.

I know you want to be handy and fix it butttt. Go to almost any good old repair shop and most of the time they have a dead machine out back. Couple of bucks cost.

It should be high density polyethylene. Harbor Freight sells packages of assorted plastic welding rods you could use. For the most part you melt the two sides of the crack together and then fill the void created with the soldering rod with the plastic welding rod.

I can't find this tank. It's an odd shape and it's on a gas powered skate board/scooter and the ONLY wording on the entire machine and engine are the two logos that say CYFLO.com which is now a click farm.
