wheel horse lawn tractor drive belt

I have a 1985 wheel horse lawn mower. The bearings went out on the v pulley and belt was cracked all most broken.
This is on the mower deck drive belt. It has 3 blades and sharp as h---.
So I put a new pulley and a new belt on it I tightened the belt up as tightened it as I could by hand, I cut grass for one day and the belt flipped up side down in the v pulley, So I flipped the belt back where it belonged in the v pulley, and again I tightened it as tight as I could by hand. Two hours later the same thing, what am I doing wrong.
The v pulley is next to the engine and the flat pulley is next to the pulley housing then the nut.
Can any one help me out

MANY THANKS and HAVE A GREAT DAY

My first thought is you either have some more bad bearings on that 1985 mower deck/mule drive, or you tightened the belt too much and now it has a broken cord in it. You also don"t say if it is a genuine Toro belt or not. (Toro now owns Wheel Horse) If you are trying to make it work with a cheaper belt you may be just wasting time.

JR! I have a wheel horse C175 Hydro tractor, with a 42" 3 blade mower deck. I have the same knob on the grille, to tighten the pto belt, to drive the mower deck. I have never seen a contraption such as wheel horse used to route the belt. to the mower deck, but it works well, and does the job. In your shoes I would be googling Red Square forum, to get answers. Good people there also, they are not all on YT. My last belt came from NAPA, and works well.
