Steam Threshing - Arthur, IL

Had our annual threshing day today. Threshed oats with a Keck
Gonnerman Steam Engine and Thresher, plus baled some of the
straw with a 1904 Hay Press.

All those exposed gear, pulleys and belts probably gives OSHA fits, but it sure is neat to see how it all works. I vaguely remember threshers. Lost my Hop-a-long Cassidy spurs in a straw pile. Circa 1950 0r so.

Broomcorn next weekend at Arcola. Seems like the rain will not stop this year for even the fun days.
