OT Good but long day

I got the equipment cleaning routines working today at the ketchup plant. There are a few issues, but it is working. I will go back tomorrow and wrap up. I am only one day behind schedule after fixing a bunch of issues.

On the way home, I pulled out to pass a car, saw a car in the distance, so I sped up, then radar detector went off. I pulled in, slowed down and saw the lights come on, so I pulled over. The IHP came up to the truck, real nice fellow, said I was going 80 in 55, and understood that I slowed down after pulling in, wrote me up for 65 in 55.

So overall, good day.

Got popped 83 in a 70 late June in Lexington Va. R.driving. Had speedometer calibration documented w/sensor replacement. Court costs $97.00 Defective equipment WHEW! Chuck

Was heading back home from the prayer service for my day. Wife was to work at 9:00 that night and running kind of close. Seen a vehicle coming, thinking it might be the county deputy in the truck. Just then the lights. pulled over and had everything ready. Office asked if from out of state (had the KIA we bought from the daughter in Albq. NM) Said no, just waiting on the title to get plates switched. Said coming back from the prayer service and running late to get wife to work, but said it was no excuse and that I knew I was speeding. He took license and all back to truck. About 5 minutes later he comes back. Said I hadn't been stopped in a along time and gave me a warning. Was doing 78 in a 55 WHEW. While pulled over, brother and SIL and family passed us. Dad must have been looking down on me already. Rest in peace dad and thanks.

About a month ago I pulled onto a 55 MPH highway on the way to church and after I'd accelerated for awhile I looked down at the speedometer and saw 72 MPH so I backed off. Crested a little knoll and a pickup was coming at me with the lights flashing. It was a reserve deputy and he clocked me at 72. He ran my license and gave me a verbal warning. I don't think he was authorized to write tickets. We got to talking and he turned out to be the son of a neighbor of mine. When we got to church I found out the news had beat me to church. One of my classmates who goes to my church heard my name on his scanner.

I've been picked up for speeding twice in my life and only got a tongue lashing both times. Next time I might. to be so lucky. I've been wound a little tight this summer and one of the side affects is a right foot that's closer to the floor.

First, speeding ticket I ever got was in my '55 Chevy wagon headed down I-77 in South Carolina back toward Charleston, where I was stationed at the time. The trooper said he had clocked me at 70 in a 55, and I was guilty of the 70, but only because I thought the speed limit was 65. Thankfully he wrote me up for 60 in a 55 since the 65 zone did start about 1/2 mile past where he clocked me.

I was even more thankful that he didn't know the whole story. When I passed him I didn't even have my foot on the accelerator. In fact all I was doing was coasting back down from the 120 I had been doing a few miles further back. Now that was my lucky night.....

The funny thing about the whole deal was that as many times as I had been back and forth home no one had ever said anything to me about getting a ticket until that weekend. By the same token no one ever said anyting about having a wreck until the weekend I was towing the car back to VA with my new pickup. That turned into a brand new truck and a 55 both messed up because of a chunk of concrete in the road, right in a curve, that caused the car to go the wrong way and take both vehicles off their wheels. Not a good night.

From then on I forbid anybody to say anything to me before a trip other than "Remember, shiney side up, rubber side down..." Knock on wood it had worked for me now for going on 20 years.

SHAME on you for distracting/taking the officer's time away from preventing or solving a REAL crime!

Back in the late 80s I was on a parts run in my trusty Chevy 1ton. I was coming down a long hill and saw a cop coming at me fast and you guessed it as we passed he hit his brakes so I just pulled over and waited for him. He came up to the truck real cocky, He said I got you dead to rights going 78 in a 55 and started writing the ticket. He said aren't you going to say anything? Why? Your still going to write the ticket no matter what I say. Your right! He handed me the ticket and said Have a nice day. I said you too and see you in court!

I was not going to pay the ticket for something I know I didn't do so I went to court to see the judge. My name was called I went up and was asked for my plee , not guilty. Judge looked over his glasses at me and said are you sure about that? The officer is right there and says you did 78 in a 55, You want to try again? No sir not guilty. My truck will not go that fast. I don't believe you said the judge. Well I'll pay double the fine if you can get my truck to 78 mph and held my keys up. I'll take that bet and when I come back not only will you pay double the fine I am going to double the points on too! Fair enough! He took my keys and left with the officer to go for a ride. They came back 1/2 hour later and looked at me with a smile and said case dismissed, He said at 50 mph that thing is screaming and at 55 I thought it was going to fly apart! Why? Simple 456 gears and 8.25x16.5 tires its made to pull not fly. He did get on the officer good in court about the ticket and speeding down the hill to make the radar read 78. I left the court room with a smile on my face and no court costs! Bandit

You should have pleaded for bald tire or put something haging off the mirror and say hay give me a ticket for this. Try to get a non moving violation.

About 10 years ago while driving fuel tanker got stopped by state patrol, 66 in a 55. I had cruise set at 57, always did, Not more than a week later was at refinery talking to other drivers and three others got nailed by same officer the same day, 66 in 55 kinda fishy to me
