Richard Attenborugh Gone!

In a little bit after the old TV show Naked city goes off; I am going to put "The Great Escape" which I have on Blu-Ray & sit down to a good home brew Lipton tea, & watch the whole thing! Not the best movie of all time; but a good one with him in it. He died on Sunday at 90. He is just about the last of the main characters to die from that movie. Steve McQueen's been gone for over 30 years. One of the first to die. Am I getting old, or what? Age 43!

Was he the man that tried to board the escape train, the nazi guarding the train mentioned "Have a good trip". and he replied "Thank you.... then "RUN FOR IT!!!" Great movie, and true to all the facts too, true very sad story.

There is a lovely story he used to tell about the time he was 'recognised' by a lady from America. She shook him by the hand and said "Mr. Attenborough I have admired your work for many years!" So Richard replied with words to the effect "Oh thank you" Then she went on to say "And how brave you were working with all those wild gorillas!"
Apparently it is not only her that got the two brothers mixed up!

43, you're just in your prime. Although I must say it is more down hill, rather than up from here. My son is 46 and he says he can really tell the difference.

"The Sand Pebbles", "Guns at Batasi" (great flick) and my personal favorite "Flight of the Phoenix". Great actor, especially in Guns at Batasi. Watch it and you'll see where the "Higgins" character in "Magnum PI" came from.

RIP Sir Richard.
