Why does my FARMALL 200 konk out when working

I just replaced points and distributor on my Farmall 200. It start right up and runs nice. When it gets warmed up and the PTO and Brushhog is activated minutes later it sounds like its starving for fuel and stops. It then starts right away. Can it be the points?. Fuel is flowing in the glass and I cleaned it not to long ago.
Thank you
Jacques

You need to see if you have spark RIGHT when it dies. I have seen coils or condensers act that way too. When they are under load they heat up a quit fast.

IF it was a single cylinder engine I would tell you to change the spark plug. I had two different motors last year that acted just like your describing. I had the carburetor of the hand mower several times and nothing was in the fuel system. Changed the spark plug and it ran fine. Then a few weeks later the pressure washer did the same thing.

IF you think you still have spark when it dies then It can only be the fuel system. You need to run a flow test on the system. If your carburetor has a drain, hold a 1/2 gallon can under it and see if it will flow it full without slowing down.

Remove the tube fitting at your carburetor and look for a screen that may be plugged with crud. Hal

Regards and thank you for your promtness.

So you live in Saranac,N Y.Run your tractor down to Tedford. He'll fix you right up.Real resaonable too.

While a coil can "open" with heat, in my experience it takes them awhile to start working again. It sounds like you have a restriction to your fuel supply. Some in the glass when it is stopped is not an indicator. You need to assess the fuel supply by opening the drain in the bottom of the carburetor and catching the gasoline. It needs to flow for strongly twenty seconds not two. If it starts strong and the slows you have a restriction, and you need to work backwards to find it.

Something that no one has mentioned is the
mechanical advance inside the distributor. On these
old tractors the centrifugal weights rust up and
won't let the spark advance. This will cause your
problem also.

Thank you , will try when I am back at my farm. .
Have a great day and again thanks!

I would , but they take too long to do anything. My pick up truck was there 3 months and I finally took it back and still stuff had not been done to it!
They are good people though.
