Exhaust and groundhogs

Looking for insights. I have groundhogs under buildings and places where I can not use the smoke bombs. If I run a pipe from the tractor exhaust into one hole and plug the others, will the carbon monoxide do the job? If so, how bad is the stink (from carcasses)? I Plan to use an old gas tractor with no emissions devices.

Thanks

They stink bad my neighbor likes to use fly bait and milk and after a belly full of that they seem to like to come over to my place and die.becarefull that mix is illegal in places

I would think if you did that and then filled in the holes the stink would pretty much stay in the ground where you would not smell it unless you missed a hole some place

If you cover the hole, pack it down, you shouldn't notice any odor, I had 3 a few years back that made dens in really bad places, I soaked some rags and such, shoved those into the den opening as far as I could push them in, then covered the holes, tamped and that was the end of it, leg/ankle breakers. I've live trapped & released 3 killed at least 3 this year, neighbor 2, really need to deal with a dozen dens at the base of the hill, way out of control, and now have beaver working my stream where the tractor path crosses it, odd as he can't make a pond there, but upstream its possible, darned critters !!!
