identifying a factory wide front farmall m

I have a wide front farmall m and I am pretty sure it is a factory wide front but I don't really know... How can I tell if it is a factory wide front or its been put on?

Most aftermarket axles are fabicated from steel
tube and angle irons. Factory axles will have cast
brackets.

We need a pic to accurately identify.The early style
has tierods in front(has a more 'primitive'
look).Later has tierods in back.Both have cast
bolsters/pivots.But, the really early will have a
cast center
tube.Aftermarket(Swarts,Norden,Speeco....) usually
have tiesrods in back.They have fabricated (angle
iron)bolsters/pivots.All can use the IH cast hub.The
60/06/56 style looks like the later style but uses
pressed steel wheels. Clear as mud?

What years were the M fronts with the front tie rods?

If its original to the "M" I believe all of them.

Easy to tell if it's an early factory wide front.
If it takes 12-15 acre swing to turn around,it's
original IH. Aftermarket fronts turn MUCH shorter.
LOL.

Yes.Original 'old style'.But it's missing the 'set back plate'.That is a 5/8" thick steel plate that was used to set the front directly under instead of way out front(as yours is).Vastly improoves turning radius as well.

We have the set back plate.Kind of like having the front out like it is.This tractor has the low,low 1st and reverse gear in it.My son takes it to tractor pulls,and likes having the weight out front.
