Help with a john deere eztrak mower

My dad has a john deere z235 eztrak mower and the deck cable broke on one side. I ordered one from deere and it comes with both sides. I"m stuck in the replacement procedure. The cables are held together with a metal plate. I can"t figure out how to remove the old cables and replace with the new. The metal plate fits into a slot under the operators station but I can"t determine how to get it loose. Any help would be great!!!!!!!

Looks like if you release spring 14, remove the pin fastener 4, and disconnect the other ends at the draft links, the cables and the jam plate would come right out?

Did you ever get this figured out? We've encountered the same issue and just can't see how to remove the plate.
