ot: known 1994 Olds Bravada issues

I have found a 94 Olds Bravada with 100k miles for sale. It has sat in a barn for the last 14 years untouched. I can get it for around a 1000. The ac got recharged recently and works well. Any known issues with this model or any issues likely to spring up from setting unused so long? Seems like a good deal but don"t want to get into a money pit. It would be replacing a 92 Deville that is mechanically bullet proof. Thanks

It looks like it, been told it has a Chevy 4.3 in it. But this has smart trac which I understand is AWD so the running gear may not be chevy.

Had one and didn't have any major problems. Sold it to my brother when it had 93 thousand miles on it. He drove it (as his primary vehicle) for four years and only had to replace the fenders due to our heavy winter salt rusting them. It did have auto awd.

We had a 95 Blazer and that was "full time 4 wheel drive",as in 4 wheel drive without lockouts.

When the Bravada first came out and was tested by one of the big name auto mags. one of the first things written was "the only thing wrong with the Bravada was the Ford Explorer"
That of course doesen't answer your question but for $1000.00 you probably won't go wrong.

The drivetrain is all Chevy, except it uses a transfer case made by BW that was only used in Bravadas, Typhoons, Cyclones, and AWD Astro/Safari vans. The chain in the case stretches and causes a horrendous popping noise on take off. No parts are available for that case. The first gen Vortec 4.3 is also not the most reliable. Good, efficient runner when it runs, but can be pricey and aggrivating to fix when broken.

A neighbor has one, it treats him well. He won't keep a vehicle that doesn't.

You may take a hit on gas mileage compared to the car. How many miles will you drive it per year? I don't think you will find much else with low miles and working AC for $1000.

The known problem I know of is with the fuel injection system. The plastic lines on the injector get brittle and break with age/vibration. It is about a $300-$500 fix.
