Mom called today to find out if Me or my brother knew anything about her peachs being gone. Long story short She is ticked that all her peachs and butternut squash are gone. If anyone on here got them and will let me know I promise I'll hold her back long enough for you to get out of the state. That's the best I can promise.

Coons! Cleaned us out last year - every single peach was gone overnight, just as they were ready to pick. We found a pile of peach pits at the base of another tree in the yard. We picked them early this year and set them up in a spare room to ripen. There are no coon hunters left in our area, and in a few short years they go from a minor irritant to a full blown nuisance. I never pass on a chance to kill a coon.

It might be a good idea to stop by a farmer's market on Saturday and get some fresh peaches and squash for your mom.

I don't think it was coons or deer as there were no pits on the ground.

Sure would love to ride up there this weekend. Son has band stuff.

Lots of coon hunting in that area. No pits on the ground. These animals had two legs and a paper bag.

probably coons there very opertunistic, my funny with fruit was to have all the pears on one side of the trees taken, turned out that a goat here had figured out how to climb livestock pannels of the pen he and a coupe others were in, and was snatching them off the tree, up to 8 feet off the ground

Same thing happened to mine. I picked about 20 that were turning but not ripe--next morning all were gone. Pits were under the tree. I think it"s about time for the Golden Maldrin-Coke solution. Now the squirrels are getting my figs. Probably will give them a dose of lead.

If it was coons they would wreck the tree getting the peaches. There would be broken limbs all over it. I had to put a fence with a hot wire around the top around my trees to keep coons out of them.

Would feel nice if you could tell that to the low-life who stole them...

but since they'll steal somebody else's peaches and squash - guessing they wouldn't care anyway. Geez.

Welll - at least they're smart enough to not eat the pits! That would give you something to contemplate. . .

IF by chance theres still any first of Oct, Ill bring ya some. Headed down that first weekend, but will be on a very tight schedule. One of those stop and go type of things for work.

We only had four, and they took the biggest one. Since then, we've harvested two and one to go. It was tough getting that pineapple picker between the houses to pick them - probably will do the last one by hand or get some migrant workers to come in - LOL.
