Ferguson valve guides

How do I get valve guides for a Ferg tractor that all info tells me is a TEA 20 with the Standard engine with 85 mm bore..The new 85 mm sleeves fit perfect as did new pistons and rings but when I took the head to machine shop the guides were to short and to small for the bore in the head...The info I get tells me the guides should be no825259M1 Or sparex nos60193..Got guides from Massey dealer and another source and will not fit.Can someone tell me what is going onas my computer is nearly wore out looking for an answer..

Your valve guides may have been replaced at one time before. Some shops used to cut a "standard" counter bore for the valve guide that matched the guides they had on hand. So the Ferguson ones would no longer fit.

It also could be a different head from a later engine as well. There are several heads that will "fit" a TO 20. So since this tractor is 50-60 years old it is hard to tell what was done/switched over the years.

When guys farmed hard with these tractors is was not uncommon to have to overhaul them every 4-5 years.

ABBUT, JDseller....he is looking guides for a TEA20 and not a TO20. Completely different engine. That 85mm engine is built by Standard in Coventry, England. Easy mistake to make as you don't often find TE tractors in America. Where abouts are you Harry? better be quick as I leave for America on Thursday....heading for IN and I could bring some guides for you. My email is open........Sam
