My Hummingbirds are gone??

Here in western, Pa I had several of the birds until about 2 weeks ago. Now they are gone and I don't know why. They usually hang around until Oct, but not this year? Anyone have any ideas?

Last few days, haven"t seen any, but level on the feeder is dropping so I guess they"re still around.

Is the juice level on your feeder dropping?

About the only reason they would leave (this time of year) is for a better/more plentiful food source. As I write this, I am watching about a dozen of the little rascals doing battle around my feeder just outside my window. 'Amazing little creatures!

Wait 'til it rains - they'll be back. I think the rain dilutes the nectar in the wildflowers, or maybe folds the petals shut, but somehow it causes them to return in droves.

I haven't seen ours around the feeders much, but they're still in the flowers a lot and I've even been seeing them sticking their noses in the new growth on the pine trees yet.

Maybe some new preditor moved in? The birds always knew when a snake was around before anyone else knew. They sure made a big fuss when a rattlesnake came around; birds would constantly bombard them.

When other plants bloom, they will work those in preference to a feeder. Are there many other plants blooming in your area? They will still come to the feeder, but not as noticeably. As Nancy Howell stated, If the level is dropping in your feeder, they are still there.
