A couple of contractors are in town working a a mile-long section of highway through town, and this happened yesterday as they were working right by the hospital.

Never understood how this could happen. When I worked with power systems. We had locks and tag out tags. When the lock went on. The only person with the key.Was the one working on the system.

prayers for the person and family i work on semi trucks and trailers and if i am working on something away from the drivers view i have the keys in my pocket you never know when a co driver may show up and not know the truck has a problem and if i am working on a dropped trailer i park my service truck in front of it better safe than sorry

I feel for the guy, and his family, as I work on a little bit of everything and know how things can happen if your not careful. That said, I also know it"s up to me to both know what I am doing and to insure my own safety. The way I see it, I can"t rely on anyone else knowing what I am doing to watch for me, and if I don"t do it myself, I am one step closer to getting hurt or killed.

With equipment of any type, there are enough dangers out there to begin with to have to worry about the human kind too. Like the other two posts suggest, there are plenty of ways to insure your own safety, you"ve just got to take the time to implement them before going to work.

thank you for bringing this up,
even though tractors are the best thing since sliced bread, we got to remember that they will run over us and not blink or care, it's not in there job description.

Years ago, maybe 50"s my grandpa was a mechanic at the Chevy Garage and while working under a car in one stall another guy drove one in next to him and ran over his legs, lucky it didnt cripple him. DON"T trust anyone but yourself with your safety.
