Snowco Company What happened to that company??

I know that Snowco is not in business any more. They really made a lot of different things over the years. The post about the bale loader earlier got me to look them up.

Around here Snowco made grain augers, bale loaders, bale elevators, small trailers, boat trailers, and many other things.

With they having a very diverse product line I always wondered why they went out of business??? It would seem that they adapted to changing markets over the years.

Do any of you fellows know any of the history of the company???

I am really looking for one of the Snowco lawn mower trailers. My maternal Grand Dad had one that was single axle and the whole bed tilted. It was areal handy little trailer. It got sold while I was in the service. The fellow that has it will not sell it. So if anyone knows of one for sale I would love to buy it.

Have that same trailer Dad bought new in 1964 or so along Allis-Chalmers B10.

The trailer is yellow with white fenders and decaled Allis-Chalmers and the AC logo in the fenders.
Even the ID tag say's Allis-Chalmers Co. Milwaukie WI.

Nice little trailer. I know why you would like to find one.

Sorry it's not for Sale.

Good luck on your search.

Bison: I already have one that I built to use. I just "want" one like Grand Dad's. Need it like another hole in my head but I want one anyway. LOL

Take a look at BigIron.com. on the Aug 6th online auction. Look under Trailers, other. There is a 1982 SnowCo trailer on the auction, Consignor is Omaha Metropolitan Utilities District. These were handy little trailers for hauling riding mowers.

Don't know any facts, but if memory serves me correctly, they were in business about long enough for the second generation to take over and run the company into the ground, which is a rather common occurence in manufacturing. Or maybe they just didn't develop any new products and the company died a natural death.

It looks like there is a connection with T. R. Metal Crafters, Inc. in Loyal Wisconsin. They show a SnowCo bale elevator as one of their products.

JD I had a snowco auger years ago as i recall they where a part of Beatrice foods they also owned vigotone feed maybe somebody else will recall this for sure but that is the best i can recall Bob

I used to have a Snowco trailer. It was painted AC industrial yellow and white with an AC sticker. I put longer schakles to make it higher. Very handy trailer. Sold it because I got to big of a mower for it. It was the handiest trailer I have had.

My neighbor used to have one of those trailers, funny you posted this, I totally forgot, those are unique, stand out. The next neighbor over, bought it, and still has it, and I believe its been inside all these years since, he takes great care of his things. I agree, nice product, if he ever goes to sell it, I will make an offer, exact same one you have in the photo, I remember it well, gray, maybe galvanized ?

Yes, a division of Beatrice Foods. I have two augers and a grain cleaner. Maybe being a "division of", when profits dropped off for whatever reason, the powers that be simply dropped them to keep the quarterly reports looking nice.

Thats the one was definitely gray and I remember it well because of those non-slip holes, you could tell it was a well made trailer. It was his first one, he had a larger one, when he retired he mowed lawns, and had a couple of tractors to haul around.
Would have never remembered this had unless you posted it LOL !
