Here are a few pictures of my corn food plots. I'm 5'-8" and much of it is over my head. I planted in mid May with my JD 71 planter and TO-30 tractor on 26" rows. Both plots are about a 1/3 acre, each fertilized with 100# 12-12-12 and 50# Urea. The second plot got an additional 25# of urea at about 18" height. First plot (picture 1 and 4) had cow peas the year before. Second plot (picture 2 and 3) had oats. Timothy in picture 4 is about chest high.

190 lbs N/acre? I just fertilized my hay ground after finishing first cut and thought I was doing pretty good to put on 30 lbs N/acre.

Show crop I got 130 lbs. of actual nitrogen on a per acre basis. Corn needs over a pound per bushel of harvested corn.

IF your applying 30 lbs. actual or 30 lbs. of Urea??? On your hay ground your a little low but not by much if your putting 30 lbs. of actual.

I looked at my records and it was 100# 12-12-12 and 25 pounds of urea, or the equivalent of about 75 pounds per acre. ((12 +12.5)/.33))

I've always been told that 1 'unit' of N = 1 bushel corn.I applied 150 'units' per acre.Sidedressed at ankle to calf height.I use liquid uran/32%.3.?? units per gallon fert'.that = 42.?? gal/acre.Acctually I got (average) 40 to 50 gal per acctually applied.I think one field got almost 60 gpa. We'll see......Not counting the 9-18-9 starter that I use.
