2$ Yard Sale Find: 50$ Loss

Stopped by a yard sale and bought a roll of corrugated pipe that I thought might make drop tubes for my grain drill for two dollars. Got home, cut a piece and got excited that it fit. An hour later I went to get something from my pocket and discovered I had a fifty missing. Went back hoping they might have found it and would be honest. Said they didn't so .... At least I can fix my tubes. I pull it with my TO-30 to keep it legal. Still, it sure put a damper on my Saturday.

That would keep me thinking about that all day myself. I hat to lose anything. I lost a tool box off of my trailer a few years back. Still think about it, when I go by the curve I think it fell off at. Stan

I don't carry anything larger than a twenty, in case I should drop one it wouldn't be like a fifty or a hundred.

Sorry for your loss!
How times change....I got married in 1962. used to take $5.00/week for coffee money and that was plenty then. Got my 5 bucks from my wife and went to the drug store to pick up a prescription for her and there was about 20 kids at the register buying candy and looking. Got out to my truck and found I had lost my new $5ive dollar bill. When I went in, ALL the kids were at the cash register with candy...just smiled and left!

Don't give up yet, might turn up. Back in late winter, I lost a 100 dollar bill. Stayed mad at myself for a while, then forgot it... Several months ago, got a date with a lady I knew and figured I better clean out the truck.. Guess what? Found the 100 dollar bill, and we went to a nice steakhouse.. Getting along well...

Sorry aboot your loss.
Don't take this wrong, but isn't the dollar sign supposed to be in front of the number and the cents sign after the number?

Buddy accumilated a nice wad of cash his wife wasn't aware of. Kept it in the toe of the wing tips he hadn't worn in 20 years. Wife cleared out clutter around the house and took it to Salvation Army. When he told me about it I said she found the money and isn't telling you. He refused to believe it until I reminded him she makes the bed when they stay at a hotel. A lady that tidy would certainly wipe dust off the shoes before giving them away. I never mentioned it again,,,,,,,,,well maybe once or twice.

Yeah, sometimes you get beat by the situation. Was at a farm auction one time, it was taking forever. A lawn chair came up, I bought it for a dollar, handed the dollar up and they gave me the chair, which I promptly sat down in.

Nature called, and when I got back, a very old man was sitting in my chair. The guys were watching me, with smiles, to see what I would do. I just smiled and shrugged, and of course, did nothing. Eventually, he moved on, and I got my chair back.

(quoted from post at 11:34:49 07/05/14) I don't carry anything larger than a twenty, in case I should drop one it wouldn't be like a fifty or a hundred.

I once knew a guy who worked for his older brother at his very successful restaurant. I heard him say more than once how he liked to always carry a thousand on his hip. One night a couple tough guys decided they needed $500.00 apiece on their hips.

That reminds me - wife and I used the bank drive thru to cash a $140 check. Tellor handed the money out in one of those little bank envelopes, and we never saw it again. We finally decided that we'd drug it out on the ground when we got out of the car. About a year later the heater fan started making a funny noise, and when I took it apart, there was the wadded up envelope with the $140 still in it. So - $140 richer, and nothing wrong with the fan after all. I never did figure out how that envelope got down in there - the defrost slots are too small for it to fit through. Remember Larry - there's a chance that your $50 will turn up in some odd place, and it will really make you feel good when it does.

When I was trucking I stopped at a little truck stop about 4 in the morning. Got a couple candy bars and a pop for about $4. Few hours later at breakfast, figured I paid for the pop and candy with a $100 bill. Got change for a $10. Some body made a easy $90.

While on vacation we ran into a family reunion doing a scavenger hunt. Someone dropped a 10 dollar bill on the ground, we did not notice until after they had left. We ran into them in the lobby and gave it to the group and told them what happened. We had our 7 and 2 yr old children with us, the way I look at it is hopefully our kids will learn to return what is not yours because you would want someone to do the same if the roles were reversed.

That happened to one of the "HeeHaw" characters,
can't remember his name, carried a roll of money in
his overalls, liked to show it off, give it away.

Word got out he had money hid at his house. Someone
murdered him and his wife, was never solved.

Years later the house was sold, first time the new
owners used the fireplace, burning money fell down
the chimney!

Steve, actually, the murders were solved. Two cousins, both 23 years old at the time were later arrested and charged. One died in prison of natural causes and the other may still be in prison,he was trying for parole.
