Cool old Ad - grand opening of tractor dealership

That's so cool! I love to see ads from way back, things were just so different then. Lots more personal than some Yahoo yelling into a TV camera, trying to convince you that you need his product.

Neat old ad. It came out one day short of four years before I was born. Today you don't see other businesses welcoming the new business like we see in that ad.

That's an excellent observation, all across this country it was like that, anywhere you saw something like this or ads in programs, my sentiments exactly, we've lost that I think, its sad to think about it, but things change, not one to totally live in the past, but we do here with old tractors, farming, family, sharing what we have experienced, learned and what we do today. I will say those 2 brothers, the "Shavers" were a couple of talented guys, I was a kid at the time, but I had the pleasure of knowing them, and knowing the difference of many people today. Ask anyone who knew them, just great ole guys and long since passed on.

The brand was long established, sure I'm a fan, but I like many things from the era, no matter what label is on it.

I have the business form machine with Brown's sticker on it, there was a nice well kept original shape ford 2000 locally not long ago, a '65 or '66 2000,with a factory snow plow, I did save photos of it somewhere on this pc, small though, sure wish I had the funds, had both stickers still intact, I have an old phone book with the Brown's ad in the yellow pages, as well as many things later with our name on it too, fun to take a look back every so often.

If someone can explain to me how to convert a .pdf to .jpeg or some other way of posting I'll gladly repost it, you're on dial up probably ? It took a little time to load on my PC too.

Well here goes, should work

Well, you could download the shareware/freeware/please donate program "Irfanview" and do all sorts of fun stuff with photos!

I noticed only 2 of the ads listed phone numbers...

In 1947 I would have thought most businesses would have had telephones?

Just a few years before my time, but not many!

On their Grand Opening, I was just 2 days shy of being 5 months old. Guess that kind of makes me an antique. LOL

:>)

Another tidbit, some of the business's well a few I looked up are still in business, or have continued, surprising, I went into the host site and found a bunch of old ads for Brown's and some of ours, + other business's of interest.

Looked up one company and found a court case which was interesting reading too.
