A Couple Good Days

Spent the last couple days stacking bales. 8000 bales in about 16 hours of operating time. Not too bad. Still got a ways to go, but gaining all the time.

Very nice job on the stacking, by those #'s no brass is growing under your wheels,, I used to have a SP wagon like that, takes a real operator of them to make nice even stacks like that thanks for posting

I like to aim for 600 bales an hour, but usually it doesn't work that well. Don't know how good of an operator I am, but I do get lots of practice.

I am curious, how bales an hour can you bale? If I recall, you use John Deere balers, correct? Thanks, Mark

What model number are your JD balers?

On the stacking, practice makes perfect. Yours look better than the last WY stacks I saw many years ago, Somewhere North of Laramie. This guy had long poles, or pipes, to lean against one end of the stack until he could stack another load. Of course, his stack ground was not as level as yours.

Running 3 John Deere 348 balers, we can bale somewhere around 800 bales an hour, average. Flat out we could probably get close to 1000 an hour, but when you figure adding twine, replacing shear pins, BS'sing with the neighbors, etc... 800 is what we shoot for. Of course some days you're lucky to do half of your plan, and darn happy to do that well.

I wish our hay here in southern Indiana would bale up nice and green as yours.
It turns brown before you can bail it.

And I guess your window of opportunity, timewise, is short, each day. It seems so weird to see square bales stacked outside like that. Around here(Ky) we even try to keep our round bales inside due to the weather. Mark

What kind of equipment and how large a crew do you have? I used to think hand stacking 1000 bales in an afternoon was a good day.
