Braggin' time

Independence Day Parade in town today. I drove my Farmall H while my 10 year old Great Nephew followed me on the Ferguson TO-25. He did great! Kept he straight and never panicked-even when a kid ran out in front of him for candy.

He's taken to that tractor like a duck to water. Sure, he gets a little nervous at times, but that's only because I'm making sure he has a healthy respect for the dangers like rollovers and brake failure. But he knows 4 ways to stop the tractor and in what order to try them.

After the parade was over and we got off the seat, a parade official walked up and handed him a 3rd place ribbon.

Way to go! This is a day that he will remember for the rest of his life. You are to be commended for training him in the proper use of equipment as well.

great experience for him I'm sure. it's good he has someone to teach him. bet if this was posted on Facebook or one of those sites ther'd be people having a coniption fit over a 10 y.o. driving a tractor.how many of us learned to drive on a tractor at 10 or maybe younger. good job

He must be on that tractor for hours every day for 2-3 years in order for you to have that much confidence in his ability.

No. He just started working for me this Spring, perhaps late May or early June. And between Little League, watching his little brother and having some Summer vacation to enjoy, he really hasn't had that much seat time. But he's motivated!

He's a great kid and a pleasure to have around. If I ask him to go do the watering, I know I don't have to check to see if it's done. Ask him to go grab the post maul over at the other hog pen and he never complains. I just wish he could heft a 50 pound sack.
