Rake and bale at the crack of dawn, doing summer fallow til noon.

Then knoced down 35 acres of hay after dinner. Nice hot days and it's really sliding thru the cutter.

Hi Allen, couple of question's. Most of your pictures show large fields, how many acres in these fields? In my area most of our fields are quite small compare to your area. 2nd question, in the phote, top of picture shows (white) is that rolls of hay wrapped in plastic? Cheers, Murray

Fields range from 40 acres to 100. This one is 64 acres and the 'white' area is just the late day sun reflecting off some summer fallow ground that hasn't been worked yet.

Another 250 acres of hay and I'm done for the first round.

That ground looks rough. Does it jar your teeth out. I helped a friend, and his got so bad we had to work it up and replant.

I hear you, same thing here. water the garden at 6:00, today and yesterday drive 25 miles one way and service tractors and hook up for a 85 year old life long friend, then climb in the 830 and cut till 9:00, water the garden again then bed, must be haying season! I have about the same left to go over as well, but I will only get one cutting

Thanks to both of you for posting. That's some big country. In western Washington, we have the horizon defined by timbered hills, on all sides. It may be 10 miles, or it may be 2 city blocks (looking out my office window), but always hills.

I remember the first time I went east of the Cascades as a kid, where its big flat country like yours- it made me uneasy, with no hills in the background- kind of like the early guys sailing on the ocean and wondering if they were going to fall off the edge.

Case, what is the grass you're showing in the picture? And you're in Wyoming, IIRC?

Mike, yes I am in NE Wyoming, the grass is "Crested Wheat Grass" thank you for the comments I always look at Allen's posts as well I enjoy his stories and pics too
