Rain On The Window

Just the view out my window this morning. I am getting used to the constant sound of rain on the metal roofing. That is a white tail deer standing in the tall grass. The sloughs in that wheat field keep getting bigger and the crop turns more yellow than green as the rain continues.

not sure how much rain you've had this weekend, but we are at 60mm (2.4 inches) since late friday night... really don't need anymore just like you...

So wet here even the Turkeys had to come to high ground. Funny how smart nature is, they stand on that concrete drive knowing that what little heat there is will help the drying. We are having rain ever day.

Was in Greenville at the 4-H fair collecting camper and another trailer load of miscellaneous stuff from the fairgrounds. Place is a quagmire. Thanks to both vehicles being 4wd suvs we made it. As we were leaving they made an anouncement that they serent giong to charge extra rent if campers were left a day or two till things dried out. Must have been an inch of rain in less than half an hour. rrlund lives just a few miles east of there. He must have got a bunch of rain as well.
I cut hay on wednesday. Got about half an inch last nite another half with this morning. Oh my soggy hay! rr do you want to grab your field chopper and a forage wagon and come on up? Was nicely windrowed. Gonna be a week before I can bale it.

By some unbelievable stroke of luck,I got all of it that was down, rolled up.
I had to go to a funeral visitation Friday evening but still got 80 bales rolled before and after.
Then yesterday I got 90 rolled up. I don't know how I managed to finish. The last round, lightening was hitting so close I thought I'd wet myself. The wind came up the last pass across the field and the windrow was starting to blow away. Right after I kicked out the last full bale a few big drops hit the window. There was another 2/3rds of a bale to the end. I rolled that and brought it home to feed to the bulls. It rained til about seven o'clock after that.

It rained at the fairgrounds too? Geez,I thought it was just a dark cloud that followed me like something out of a cartoon. lol

Ya,it was dark over there a lot earlier than the rain started here. In fact, the sun came back out here for a while after the dark clouds over your way passed.

A friend lives in SW Eaton co MI. He has a small lawn care bus. He went to selling squeegies for the front of mowers. He said lot better than trying to mow grass. lol

When I got out of the yard I found just how bad it was. 4 inches in the guage in the past 24 hours has pushed water levels to extreme. My driveway culverts are running full and so far keeping it off the road but the main roads are overflowing. This photo shows my trike parked on the creek crossing. The two 16 inch culverts are running full and there is still a couple of hundred feet of road with water overflowing. Half a mile south the main road is slowly washing out as water flows over it. I will likely be cut off for south and east access. Have not checked North yet. I have never seen extreme water levels this bad here before. Forget about spraying the rest of the crops.

Had a great weekend for haying here in south central Ontario. Made 58 big round bales of dry hay, and chopped 40 acres of second cut for milk cows. Just got in from packing the bunk, and it has started raining. Looks like maybe a few wet days now. I could use a rest. Bruce

(quoted from post at 12:28:49 06/29/14) Which state are you in? Minnesota and Iowa are both wet also.

I see my location does not show in the classic view. Only modern. I am in S.E. Sask. Not a state yet.

Oops! Yes, I was using classic view. I need to use Modern view more often. Thank you for the tip!
