A Question About Soybeans

I plant corn and beans with the same tractor (Ford 6640) and White planter my Dad used. Quite a few big operators are spraying fungicide on soybeans when they bloom. I've never done it, but am wondering if it is a profitable thing to do? Thanks in advance for for any advice. Rand

Some years they gain a few bucks around here.

Some years they break even with the cost of spraying.

Some years they don"t get the spray cost back.

I don"t use fungicides yet.

Where do you live? I'm only familiar with the conditions we have here in Northwest Iowa. We usually don't see enough yield improvement to pay for the spraying and fungicide cost. If the temperature and humidity conditions are right for the blight or fungus or whatever it's supposed to kill to grow it might pay off but it's a kind of a crap shoot.

I have, ran a side by side in a 60 acre field. 30 done, 30 without. No appreciable difference in two years. They say it helps make the new truck payments for the chemical reps though....
