Ford 7000 follow up

When we got the tractor home we looked in the tank. We did not see any algae like the previous owner said. It would crank but not start and only run on a few short whiffs of ether. We traced the fuel lines and had fuel all the way to the injectors. We cracked 2 injectors and she fired right up. As for the algae, I do not think there was any. I dumped some Stanyadyne fuel de-icer in it just in case and to help clean the system.

I am glad your problem was not as bad as you thought it was.

Here is MY experience with bad fuel. The Stanadyne fuel de-icier IS not very effective against a fuel issue. IT is mostly alcohol which is fine IF your problem was water or ice. You need a good fuel conditioner. That treats the fuel to protect it from algae and helps with lubrication issues in stall/old fuel.

If I remember correctly that Ford 7000 has a Simms injection pump. They are known for sticking rack issues. One bad batch of water/contaminated fuel and you could very easily have to have your injection pump rebuilt.

Also change the oil in the injection pump ASAP!!! It is separate from the engine oil. I used to see several Ford tractors a year with wrecked injection pumps from the owner not knowing to change the oil in the injection pump.
