Woods Mower on Criagslist

(quoted from post at 06:08:54 06/23/14) I saw this on CL and thought I'd share it here. Thought maybe some one here may be able to use it. It's good price.
15ft Woods Mower

I see people selling Farmall Cubs with 5 foot mowers, then my M should be able to handle that 15 footer? As long as I don't engage the pto. LOL.

Mowing a lawn, it probably would even if you did engage the PTO.

Mowing brush, no... but you also don't mow brush with a Cub.

Sounds like someone has a Cub with a 5 foot belly mower. Please don't take it personally. I have an A with a 5 foot belly mower and although I have never run a Cub with one, I can't imagine there is enough power. Does a Cub have 9HP?

That is a 214 mower not a batwing. The covers lift but not the blades. I use mine to cut grass hay or pastures that I want to bale. I turned the center gearbox over and switched the blades to opposite sides so the discharge comes out the back. I sometimes pull a NH 256 rake in large fields. I been doing that for over 30 years, started because a cycle mower was always breaking now because a disc mower is too expensive to run on rough ground.

The only thing Cubs are good for is mowing every five days or turning over if you get the motor down in any depression and getting hot. I had an A with a 48" that was much better.

They are for mowing lawn and you arent supposed to cut over a couple of inches as they arent bush hogs and will do a good job keeping a lawn in shape.
