Going to take the 401 from either Winsor Or Buffalo east and wind up in Bangor Maine. What are some good sights to see along the way? Thanks for any input. What about in Maine? J.

I can't think of anything right now. I live about 20 minutes north of the 401 and use it regularly to get from point A to B. I am not much of a tourist. I would suggest looking up tourism Ontario. You should find lots of info there.

The best advice I have to offer is to try to hit the stretch through Toronto early Saturday or Sunday morning otherwise it is a very busy stretch with a lot of bad drivers.

Hope that helps. If you run into problems or need some help in the Toronto area you can call me at four 16 two 54 54 four 7, or if you want to meet for a coffee. I don't live on a farm or have a tractor at home but I like coffee. Evenings and weekends are good for me.

Good luck and I hope you have a nice trip.

If you want to participate in the Punjab 500, by all means take the 401. The only time I use that highway is for work, otherwise it's hwy 2 or hwy 3.

Milton has the best permanent display of tractors, and antiques etc. anywhere in Ontario. Beautiful grounds as well. It is west of Toronto right on the 401. When are you planning on coming? If you time it right you could take in the tractor/ truck pull they have there as well.

Harry,
I live in PA but have traveled 401 to visit friends in North York several times. We went to the CN tower back when the railroad roundhouses were still there, now I guess the area is revamped into high class touristy stuff.

A link to Upper Canada village, near Morrisburg Ontario. Not far from Cornwall. We like to go once a year or so as it"s not far from us here.... Show"s life in the 1860"s. Lots of camping nearby too, if you"re into that.

Maybe you would like Prince Edward County about 10 miles east of Belleville on south of 401 about 20 miles..Picton has many old homes and the surrounding area is nice farmland and a Quite a selection of wineries.Should really spend a day to really enjot...Have fun..

No radar detectors in Ontario.
Don't have any firearms of any sort or anything that in any way may hint at firearms.
Niagara Falls is always good.

Upper Canada is good. Just my opinion, but you couldn't get me on the 401 if there was any other possible route. There don't appear to be any rules whatsoever on that road.

J, I expect that you will be on 201 in Maine going down through Jackman. I don't believe that there is a lot to see through that area. I have ridden snowmobiles a lot through the area but have never been by car. That area was never really settled or populated; it is pretty much just miles of trees, until you get down towards Skowhegan, and into potato country. The Skowhegan Fair with its tractor pulls is coming up.
