june 21 summer solstice, longest day of the year. kind of a bummer, were just getting started and the days are already starting to shorten. on another note, even though it's cold and raining and blowing, i kinda like winter solstice, dec 21, cause at least the days are starting to get longer.

I was with your way of thinking, but now at 70. I can't sleep during daylight, and think I have to work while the sun is up the shorter days aren't near as bad. Some time this summer I plan on Retiring for the third time down to a 6hr days 6 days a week working with or on tractors. LOL

Yes it is going to be a long day. I am in central Yukon Canada & several of us are planning on going up on a mountain tonite & watch the sun NEVER set. Last year we rode our machines (Polaris Rangers) up there. We all met at my house & left about 9:30 pm. We got there about 11:30 pm & had a camp fire & stood around & rode around until about 4:00 am & then rode back home. It is quite a experience watching the sun never set.

We are 4 1/2 hour drive north of Whitehorse. I & my wife are so fortunate this is our 16th summer & 7th winter in the north country. But Iowa is still home.

I think the worst part about it for me is that we haven't dropped one stem of hay yet. Been raining on & off all week. Today I'm going to put all new guards, wear plates, and hold down clips on our 9' haybine and replace any damaged sections on the 2 sickles we have for it. After that I may drag out our 14'machine and start going through that to get it ready.

So, you rode 4 wheelers up a mountain, stood around for several hours, and rode back down?

Man, that must have been an exciting night!

now THAT'S a long day. :)

I bet it is. Does that mean that you get to watch the sun go from west to north to east? That would be quite something.
