rrlund - Gehl Baler Question

I am pretty sure I remember that you are running the Gehl balers. I have a 1875 with the Gehl monitor that sets the bale size and the wraps, etc.
My question is, if you happen to have the same setup, is that the size of the bale on the monitor is not working. It is the bar graph that starts at 0 and climbs up as the bale gets bigger. And since it is not working, it won't alert me when the bale size is complete and start the tying phase. I have to manually push the button to tie. It will then tie the bale automatically and go back to "ready to bale mode" and then to start the procedure again. Last year when I blew everything off and put it in the shed everything was working fine.
Just curious if you would have any ideas where to start. The book doesn't give any good info regarding the bale size. I can set the size of the bale with the monitor, just the size as it is building is not working.
I can try to get some pics if you needed, but if you have the same setup (even though you have a smaller baler I seem to remember) I am hoping you might know something. It's probably in the Electronics somewhere, but I don't see anything that would look out of the ordinary. Thanks in advance - Bob

Up on top inside the left door as you're standing behind it,there's a sensor that's pointed at the sprocket that the chain runs over that goes to the cylinder to hold the belt tension. Have somebody get in the cab with the monitor on and stick a screwdriver in and out between that sensor and sprocket. The graph should climb. There's a section in the manual on adjusting that sensor. It takes an 11/16ths wrench if memory serves me right. I had to replace that sensor on the first 1475 that I had,and the other one that I bought a year ago started giving me trouble. I adjusted it a few times, but ended up taking that "new" one off the other baler and putting that on. It fixed it. That would be where I'd start on yours.

Many thanks for the information. I didn't see in the manual anything about the adjustment, but probably looked too fast. Thanks again - Bob

Ya,that's not really where you'd think the sensor for that would be. You'd think it'd be on that bar where the belt tensioning cylinder would be or something. It senses when a cog on that sprocket passes the sensor though. There should be a schematic that shows the distance for the sensor from the sprocket.
