Baling hay on Father's Day

This is how we spent Father's Day. We are a little behind on haying this year due to rain every 2-3 days. We have about 30 acres left for the first cut. We would normally be finished by now.

We can't get anything done here in east central
Minnesota either! It's so wet and still raining
every 2 days! Farmers still don't have all their
crops planted and the hay is 3 feet tall. Even if it
stops raining it will take 2 or 3 days before we can
drive in the fields. Sigh!! What do you do, but
wait!!

I haven't even started yet. I'm not happy with the whole situation. The panic mongering weather guessers were sure the world was gonna come to an end from storms late in the day yesterday but we didn't get a drop. I could have cut Saturday and baled today. Now I'm sitting on my hands because it Armageddon coming for the rest of the week.

Nice looking stuff. Glad you were able to get it done.

With all the rain we have been getting here, I haven"t even had a window to start cutting, much less dried and baled. Couple fields of alfalfa are really lodged. They look like a wheat field after a wind storm. The canary in my low ground is gonna be as tall as the tractor by the time I can get into it.

Its hard to be patient, but I cant control the weather. I guess I"ll settle for looking at some nice pics of haying getting done somewhere else. BW

It's getting to where they'll predict massive amounts of rain statewide and if it sprinkles in one township, they pat themselves on the back and say "see,I was right".

Randy, I cut like crazy all day Saturday because they said great weather until Wednesday or Thursday, with a slight chance of a shower on Tuesday.

The, yesterday they changed it to showers today and for the rest of the week. I rolled up over 20 acres of past prime orchardgrass today, and have some that got wet all of last week that I'm going to do tomorrow. But, I have about 20 acres left of first cutting that I'm seriously considering cutting tomorrow- the weather idiot be dammed.....

I saw what I thought was a window, 40% chance one am but cut anyway on last Wed. Baled the grass Sat am. Had 1/10 of an inch Sat night so did some creative tedding San am. baled it in the late afternoon and it went out the drive at 8pm
1.4T per acre this cut.

Yup when this so-called storm gets through I have all of the first to do. Glad it is only 20 acres. I will mow a field at a time. So in about 4 days it should be done. Though the ground is just now getting dry enough I wouldn't pick up a lot of moisture from the ground.
Just finished planting beans Sunday. Got things cleaned up and put away except for the fert spreader.
