Gas in Haliburton, Ont. {about 150 miles north of Toronto] is Reg., 1.35 and 147 for super, per liter and diesel is 133 for reg., I don"t know the price of coloured as I buy it from the tank farm. The Provincial Gov., wants to add a 5 cent tax on fuel to pay for public transit in the cites.

Hi thats about right just another excuse for a cash cow. Surprised this dumb bunch here in Manitoba aren't doing it yet.
If you live like i do in the country, you got to drive 40 km+ to get a bus or train. There are no taxi's out here either.other than post it's gettin pretty hard to get anything dropped close with a courier. Unless you drive miles to pick it up at a drop off location.
Every time they tax fuel the more the government make when everything else goes up.
It won't be the global warming that kills us. it will be taxes, and guys like the EPA making it so we can't move food and goods around any more.

The emissions equipment's un reliable and guys can't afford to fix it, or keep the stuff running long enough to do anything, and we won't be able to afford cost of delivery, and production due to the extra costs.
wages are not rising with the added costs either. We will starve ourselves to death in the end I think.
Regards Robert

Same here to the south. Maybe us country folks should get a little riled up and tell our respective governments that it would only be fair if they put the public transportation tax burden on those counties and municipalities that have public transportation. OR petition them to rebate any taxes like that (for a specific purpose) back to the municipality that they were collected in.

Our 'wonderful' blood sucking gov't in B.C. is waay ahead of the taxing fuel deal, something like 14% and has been for years. The Feds get their percentage on the $ value, our poor souls only collect on the per liter volume.

I can go to Toronto and take the subway and busses for $2.00 and ride aproximatly 50 miles. yes wouldn't be mice to go from Lindsay to Toronto for the same price and we subsidise this. Remember when they stopped the train up here and sold off the right of way?

Rural voters let them know what we think last week but our legislature won't care.Urban areas went mainly abundant while rural went mostly PC.The distribution of seats gave the abundant party a majority to ram through anything thier constituents ask for and rural areas will just have to go along with it for 4 more years.
