I have unit model # 442 the gas valve leaks. This valve is not under the recall. Norcold says there is no replacement. Any ideas?
I understand I can make the electric side work easly, however I would like the lp gas side to work also. Thank you, Dean

If you can't get the parts then the only option is to live with it in
electric mode or get a new one.
Is this an RV frig.
Sorry about it but sometimes you just have to give up on
things.

Near the city of Elkhart Indiana there are several RV Salvage Yards, maybe that's a source??? Even if Norcold has none, many bigger RV dealers may have some in stock??

I take it that's NOT an application where the fittings are universal such that other brands of 12 VDC gas solenoid valves will work. Sure its the valve right?? Does the slip over solenoid coil have continuity??? Have you stuck a test lamp or meter on its leads to see if its getting voltage?? Those push on connectors have been known to get loose. If not the valve, those control boards can go bad and are readily available in the after market from like Dinosaur Electronics in Oregon. If the voltage is low to the control board and/or other 12 VDC fridge circuitry it will fail to function ya know...

Sorry no specific help but that's all I got lol

I assume you could retrofit a slightly different gas
valve into it. But why would you want to? New -
those Norcold valves cost $150-$250. You could buy
an entire working Dometic 3-way for $150-$300 if you
shop around.

Post a photo of your valve and I'll see if I have
one. I've got half-a-dozen junked Norcolds laying
around.

Thank you guys, jd I have not been able to
fine units like you say, that is why I am looking.

there is a guy close to me that has a business rebuilding rv refrigerators. he can re-build yours or sell you one already rebuilt. i can get you his contact info if you wish. i am in georgia, just across the chattanooga tn line.

What part of the country are you in? I have half-a-dozen good working Dometic 3-way refrigerators. Too heavy to ship. I'm in central New York.

By the way - when they get "rebuilt" with new cooler-units - the price usually does not include a new regulator.

There is a man in St Elmo,IL that rebuilds RV refrigerators and guarantees them for 2 years. Email me and I will dig out his phone number. I had him rebuild one for me and it worked excellent at about half the cost of a new unit.
