John Deere 60 oil pressure

Hi everyone, I recently bought a jd 60 and I noticed the other day while i was baling with it that the oil pressure starts dropping the more I run it. When the tractor is cold and I first start it up the pressure goes way up and the more it runs the further it drops. I have a new guage on order for it to rule that out. Just wondering if anyone could give me some helpful info. Thank you!

Normal for an old worn engine.
Who made the gauge and which model?
Does the pressure run at L or M when warmed up?
Do you have the operators and service manual ?

I use 15w-40 in it now. Should I get a guage right from JD? When I first start it up it goes up to H then slowly goes down to M and when idling or driving on hills go close to L.

Evergreen restoration has excellent and accurate gauges. I have used their products and the only thing I don't like about them. The quality is so high they make the rest of the tractor appear rough by comparison.
The tractor appears to be operating mostly normal. JD used massive bearings in both width and diameter. As long as there is enough oil flow to maintain a hydrostatic supported wedge. "She be grand".

Sounds OK to me. I no longer work my 60 and it still goes 1/2 way between M & H when cold and just below M when hot at high idle. Been that way since 1971 ! Worked the heck out of at my farm. Enjoy.
