Woods belly mower belt won't stay on

My dad has a Allis C with the 6' Woods belly mower. Put a new belt on it last year. A few weeks ago he had the belt come of the sheaves while mowing. I put it back on about as tight as we could get it. He mowed with it that day and it worked fine.

This last weekend he went to use it and the belt jumped off again. Anyone have any tips for getting the belt to stay on? Anything to look for that may need fixed or something?

Too tight can spring shafts and pulleys out of alignment which will make jumping worse. Wears bearings out faster too.

Ive been using Woods mower for over 40yrs now you need to make sure the two idler pulleys are in correct line up with the deck is he using too much throttle when starting the mower. Sometimes with a new belt you need to remove it turn it over and reinstall. It does help to idle power when starting mower in gear then speed up

Maybe you have a bad bearing thats letting your pulleys get out of line
