There was one last year forsale close to me, didnt even know
they were rare think the guy wanted 3250
 
klind of looks like something that should have a padfoot roller instead of a front axle under it

That was one production run. Word is they tried to get Allis Chalmers to market them but AC said they were too expensive...
John Blue probably didn't have the right dealer network to move them, so they didn't sell well. I have read that there were around 20 known to exist, I think there is more of a following out east. I have one for sale here in WA state, probably too far away for those who are looking for one...

Actually that design is great for cultivating vegetables,tobacco and such as it has great vision for the operator and high ground clearance.I have a couple Hines tractors built in a similar way can't be beat in the garden and truck patch.
 
Just because you can build something, and it performs its intended task well, doesn't mean it will be a commercial success.

For one thing, this tractor may be better at cultivating than a more general-purpose tractor, but it really isn't much use for anything else, unlike a general-purpose tractor.

For another thing, they more were expensive for what they were. I expect they were more expensive to buy than a general-purpose tractor of the same HP rating.

If they had been able to market it at a price point that was on par with the competition, or even better, less, the tractor would have been a wild success. But, small production means large production cost, a lot of hand work, very little automation, no discounts on materials or castings... Ultimately it resulted in an overpriced tractor that may have been the best machine on the planet for cultivating delicate crops, but just couldn't be justified by your average delicate crop farmer.
