Engine gaskets

Would it be better to get the kit off Amazon with a few of the engine gaskets including head gasket for 25 dollars or get just the head gasket for 13 dollars it"s a ford 8n

After pricing it out, I think I'd always buy the whole gasket set. Can't beat the price. The only time I'd do otherwise is if I screwed up one of the gaskets or just needed manifold gaskets or something smaller and not a head gasket.

Just a word of caution. I bought a set of after-market gaskets for my JD D. Saved a few bucks over Mother Deere's prices. I didn't like the looks of the head gasket from the start, it just wasn't made the same way as the originals. It failed after about 12 hours, leaking water into the cylinders. Head and block both rechecked and are flat. New gaskets on order from JD, oil drained and re-filled since some water got into it. Cost is about 4 times what I saved, never again!

Hey Nick.

Sore subject with me.

I blew a head gasket in my v-6 Ford Explorer and decided to save some money and order the gaskets from a vendor on E-Bay.

I tore it down and installed the new gaskets and the head gasket failed in one hour.

Bought a Victor set at the local part supply installed and was good to go.

The vendor made good on the gasket set but I will never get back the 10 hours labor I lost fixing the problem.

I will never make that mistake again.

(quoted from post at 21:57:10 06/08/14) Thanks everyone I bought the gasket kit I think its called tisco

Don't know about tisco gaskets, but I did buy one of their starter buttons/saddles for the Delco starter on my WD recently (worked great, btw).

Just to add, that is one reason I don't buy NOS gaskets. They usually are dried out and don't fit anymore. Not worth the headache.
