Ford 7700 Air Condtioner Belt

We have a Ford 7700 and cannot keep the air condtioner belt on, we put new compressor, new clutch, still jumps off, everything is aligned perfect, it starts jumping and will pop right off, we had read somewhere before that they had a problem with this and had a extra Idler to install to keep it from jumping, does anyone know how to get a part # for the extra idler to stop this problem.

Thanks Brent

I've owned 2 Ford cab tractors that I've had problems keeping a AC belt on them. I've discovered the non cleated belts stays on better. Also be absolutely sure that crankshaft sheave & comp. sheave are perfectly lined up.

I was looking back in Yesterdays Tractor Archeives and founf on 12-07-2003 vern in tx responded to this problem, he commented about adding an extra pulley and had the part # but I do not know how to get in touch with him, if anyone could help let me know.
Thanks Brent

If it's like my White, they take a belt that has a different angle of the V than standard belts. The pulleys are made with a different angle. The standard belts ride up I believe.
Are you getting the belts from the dealer?

Have you checked the pressures when the belt is jumping? Is it possible the condenser is clogged, the fan is not working, or the system is overcharged causing the high side to go over 250-300?

Unless this is a common enough problem someone is marketing an idler assembly, it will be something that will have to be adapted from an automotive idler. This will work best on the "slack" side of the belt, the side moving away from the crank pulley toward the compressor.

Neighbor had a 7700 years back that would shed the belt, I fabbed a bracket and added an idler on the slack side, problem solved. I have no idea if there's a factory bracket.

The pressure on high side never exceeded 150 psi, that was my first thought also, but the more I hear aparently this was most likely something that was engineered wrong, the crankshaft drive pulley has no grooves and runs 100% true,so I think an Idler is going to be only solution, was hoping Ford had an update but no one seems to find anything.

Thanks For Info

I've never dealt with the problem... but from my understanding of it... an extra idler is what is required to solve the problem.
