I went to mow a pasture for my Aunt and my cousin's son Luke wanted to learn how to operate a tractor (city boy). He is pretty handy in the shop as evidenced by the tandem axel lawn trailer he designed and built. He's now hooked on old tractors. Lots of the National Flower of Scotland, the wee thistle.

Is the massey a 35? Sure looks like the tractor I've been working on, neighbors tractor. We had to split it to replace the front seal on tranny.

Back from my 2 mile walk. Luke works part time as a welder while taking classes at CC. He asked a lot of questions about safe operation. He is wearing safety glasses and ear plugs! We did some dry runs before engaging the shredder. The tractor is a 1957 MHF 50 I rehabilitated (not a true restoration to original). Generator rebuilt to 12 v , neg. gnd., electronic tach.It gets used regularily but I do take it to a few shows. Not many Masseys in my part of the state.

wjytexas,

Awesome to see a young person take up an interest in old iron!

Totally LOVE your little Massey!! It's adorable.

Only Massey's I've ever been around were larger models that my uncle's farmed with in WI. They also competed in tractor pulls with their tractors too.

Glad to see a young man learning to love the simple old tractors.

Now that you have mowed those thistles down hit them with some Grason in about two weeks. The double stress of mowing and then the spray will clean them up. You will need to do it for several years to clean the seed/roots clear up.

No better tractor to learn on than a Massey Ferguson and I am not biased!......Tell him well done on both counts!.......Sam
