I'm in W SC and took a couple or trips a few miles East. Corn 6 inches to 5 feet high. Soybeans 4-5 inches tall, cotton the same. Hay being baled. I have held off cutting hay because of rain forecasts, none of which came. We are getting dry. Some of the tall corn I saw late in the afternoon was showing stress from lack of rain. Sweet corn in my garden starting to tassel, open pollinate field corn in garden 6feet tall. It is not showing drouth stress yet but I had covered the garden with leaves. Some farmers cutting wheat and baling the straw in round bales. They may be dairymen using the straw for bedding. Some fields that had small grain combined have been notilled. Temperature at noon today 75 deg. Was 90 yesterday.

Getting a nice shower of rain now. Very welcome.

Strawberrys over here. There is a commercial blackberry operation near me, they are starting to ripen. Daughter 90 miles East of me has a few domesticated blackberry vines, her children have been keeping up with eating tem off the vine but she was able today to get enough for a pie.

Just got home from the farmers market, still a little slim for this time of year, but I suspect the next couple of week will be better. Im renting my land to a guy who put soybeans in this year, they are about 6" - 8", and hes made his first cutting on one field, but I don't recall what it was now. Lots of folks around lower Gville, upper Laurens cutting right now.

This was good year for strawberries here in ne MD.
We've picked several times. Sure makes good short cake. Hal

Got 1.7 inches of rain. None 10 miles to North. None 3 miles West.

My son has all his barley cut and has about 5500 bales of straw put up. Wheat harvest starts next week. Corn needs a rain and bean planting will begin soon.
