External bandaid oil leak patching ????

I've got a tranny/hydraulic fluid leak happening for about 6" along the common joint between two cast iron housings (differential and transmission). I know that an external fix is maybe a bit doubtful for being successful, but I really don't want to get into splitting anything. Maybe someone out there can pass along a little advice or a suggestion as to how to deal with this. I'm betting some of you have done this with some reasonable success.

I have repaired similar leaks by draining the oil and giving plenty of time (overnight) for it to drain off the walls then cleaning the exterior area thoroughly with degreaser and water blow out good with air then following up with brakeclean or electra clean to remove the excess moisture. Then used regular super glue in the crack, let it have time to work its way in the crack and dry enough to put another coat and another until the crack was full of super glue. let the glue dry a good 12 hours or so to be sure it is cured then use an oil resistant hi temp silicon sealent over the glue, let that dry then fill with oil and try it out. The repair medium has to be little flexible due to there is some movement between the two housings.

Yep, can have the used ones, just pay the freight.

Actually all my old tractors drip oil, so when I park them inside, I use old cardboard to protect the floor. Replace cardboard when I buy a new applicance or get that comes in a large cardboard box.

if there's a gasket between the castings, I've unbolted and pulled just far enough apart to get the old gasket cleaned off and then cut the new gasket at the top and insert putting a little gasket sealer where it was cut

I've got something similar on the back of my CUT. Every 6-8 years I have to back it up a bank so the oil level is lower, then clean the leak with a solvent like lacquer thinner. Silicone caulk lasts for several years but eventually has to be re-done. Probably due to spring a leak in a couple of years, when I'll do the same thing. Need to leave the tractor on the bank until the caulk cures overnight.
