Farmall 400 how much you think it is worth?

This morning I went and looked at a farmall 400 tractor. It looks like it really needs a restoration. The person called me because he was thiking of selling it. He told me that he wanted 2000.00 dollors for it. I told him that I would think about it. How much is one of these tractors selling for. Could you give me some ideal between not running and in running shape. Thanks. Brent
 
Need more info. Tire condition.Wide or narrow front.Fasthitch?LPTO/TA.Does it run?Average running with good tires wd ft,FH,lpto....2000 is average,offer 1500.Your area of Califorina,prices are probably higher.Pic would help
 
A 400 with working TA, good hydraulics, a charging system, a reasomably tight Fast Hitch and more than 50% rear tires is probably worth 2500 with power steering, and good tin (even if the paint is bad) would add 500 more.
Bad tin -400, bad tires -1000, Bad engine (locked) -1200, (all these bad scrap price) Jim
 
Wide front or narrow? WF adds $400. Fast hitch? I wouldn't want one with a straight drawbar.
 
I've seen a couple around here the past couple of years in pretty good shape,wide front end go for between $3-4000 dollars. They weren't show room condition but were able to go straight to the field.
 
Quick peek at CL in my area has a 400, WF, TA, with Du-al all hydraulic loader. Tires in the picture look OK but may be weather checked. Has chains. 3500.

Thank you I knew I could ask a question and get good answers right here.This tractor I looked at had alot of problems. It needs some body like me to take it apart and go threw it. The man is still trying to get it to run. Tires look okay but the rest who knows. I gave him what I thought was a good offer for it 2000.00 as it sets maybe that is to high but then it is in his favor. I am not to shure if he is going to call me back and say it is a good deal but on the other hand I have alot more tractors iin my back yard that need to be finish. Thanks Brent
