My buddy Mark and I went to Springfield, MO today to see the ATHS truck show. Had an awesome day there visiting with these guys and admiring their work.

I am an admirer of the B Model Mack. Would love to have one to haul my tractors with to local shows and parades.

Recognize what this contraption is?

When this one fired up, it sounded more like a Duramax than a Mack, lol.

We we're really impressed with this 8020 John Deere and his GMC road tractor, "Lets Roll".

Lots of Diamond T pick ups there. Mark was watching me instead of the lady about to exit this one,,,,,,,,LOL

mvphoto7454.jpg

This Diamond T in its "work clothes" was one that I thot Sweetfeet would appreciate. Check out the fan on the steering column.

Hand crank dump mechanism for a dump truck. It has Little Giant stamped on it, my grandad had a Little Giant grain auger at one time. Think this could be the same company?

Last but not least, we caught this p/u on our way out.

Thanks for posting these pics. You trucks are real strange to me as
a foreigner, just the same as ours are strange to you. But I still love
looking and learning! Somehow with movies made in America ,I
have become used to your cars and they are no big shock but the
trucks are so different!...............
Sam

I believe there is one every year in Macungee,Pa.
They also had tours of the nearby Mack Truck assembly plant.

It"s a hillbilly air conditioner. The GMC with the 8020 is a regular
on the shows. I saw it at Iowa 80 and boy that truck has a set of
horns on it ! If they were something else they would have to be
carried in a wheelbarrow.

That Kenworth with the cow trailer on, could have
been what I drove back in the late 80s!!!

Thanks for the pictures!!

Larry, so did I and really thot I had taken more of it, dang. My dad bought a ready-mix plant in the early 70's. One of the trucks was a mid 60's Chevy and the mixer had it's own power unit. One day that truck was batched out with a full load. When it was pulled up to be washed down, the power unit on the mixer quit and it never started again.

Kerry50,

Great photos, thanks for posting!

Like the Diamond T, the International pickup with
camper and the tough looking brown/yellow delivery
van.

Absolutely LOVE the green and black Mac in the
first pic... only thing to top it would be if it
was red and black.

The brown/yellow van that you referred to was a milk delivery truck. The inside was insulated like a cooler. Take a look at the roof, it is wood! The guy who had it said it was a barn find, good thing or the top would have been rotted off.

I'm surprised it had a wood top and not metal.

Forgot to ask... do you know the story on the fella's truck with the license plates all over it? Curious.

The "contraption" on the International pickup in
photo #3, is indeed a Thermador Air Conditioner,
as properly identified by "uncle henry". When I
was a youngster, my parents had one on our old
"Woody" Station Wagon, and if I remember correctly
they held about 2 gallons of water, and just hung
on the top lip of the door. The brace went between
the glass and the window frame, and you had to
remember to not roll the window all the way down
or the glass would catch on the brace when you
rolled the window up.

THANKS for the photos and the MEMORIES!

I first learned to drive trucks on an old long-
nose Mack when I was 17 years old. I love all of
those older trucks, especially that old Diamond T,
haven't seen one of those in a long, long time.

Really enjoyed you pictures! Thanks for sharing. Several reminded me of some of Dad's from 1936 to 1958.

sweet, the p/u with all the license plates was in the parking lot when we left. The man that owned it was not around so no idea. The guy standing there did say he was from WV. Forgot to add that the trucks in the show were from as far away as Maine and Oregon.

Thanks so much for sharing! I really enjoyed those Loved the old Chevy COE, and the Corvair pick ups. Few people today under 30 have ever heard of Corvair, much less Corvair pick ups. Think I saw one Econoline p/u in there somewhere also.
