Finally got to see one of Country Music's legends last Monday night. Gene Watson (Farewell Party, Paper Rosey, Love In The Hot Afternoon), one of my all-time favorite singers. Really enjoyed the show. His band was very good also. To keep this tractor related, he mentioned growing up on a farm and driving a tractor. Better go see these folks while they are still around, cause they"re getting way beyond Social Security"s earliest elegibility age. I was lucky to see George Jones a few times over the years, the last time being just a few months before he passed.

I've been to at least six of his shows in years past. Most were 25-30 years ago here in Mississippi. They were from the Miss. Colusiem in Jackson to a juke joint and bar in a small town. All were very good and he always signed autographs afterward. I also have a picture of my two sons with him that was made when the boys were less than teenagers--they are now 39 and 43, so you can figure how long ago that was. He is still one of the greatest in my opinion.

Gary Gene Watson grew up just a few miles from me in Texas. He is several years younger then I, so I did not really get to meet him until a couple of years ago in Branson. One of our local country music jockeys once said on the radio, that Gene Watson is the most underated singer in the country. He is one of the best!

Just a little off track. Last year I saw Steve Martin live with the Steep Canyon Rangers. Lots of fun for a $75.oo ticket. I also saw Jean Shephard Live several times. He was the author of Christmas Story. One very funny show I saw back around 1988 was Soupy Sales. What a riot!
