John deere lawn mower help

Guys I need some help as I'm really frustrated with my deere z445 zero turn. This spring when I went to use it the mower would quit when I engaged the deck. I have checked the pto switch as I put on one from another deere I have. Any ideas as I really need both mowers to keep up with the grass.

if its the mower deck dis-engaging and the engine continues to run then its the battery. electric pto"s requires sufficient battery strength to remain energized.

I have an F935 with front deck that acted like that. It ended up being a switch on the mower pto shaft brake. They have enough safety interlocks to drive a shade tree mechanic crazy.

Jacksonduper,

While the other guys ideas could be the cause of your problem ,there is another idea that no one has mentioned . Your deck bearing assemblys . If one of them ( or the idler pulleys on the deck could also do it to ) is locked up it will kill the motor . Unplug pto clutch , start motor and turn on pto switch and see what it does then . If problem goes away , then plug pto back up and take off deck drive belt and start motor and then turn on pto switch and see what it does . If it runs then check all deck spindle assemblies and pulleys and idlers . I have seen mowers do this because of locked up bearings . I have seen this on mowers with electric pto clutches as well as on manuals .
